Santorini to Crete - Day 11

Up, ate breakfast, packed ... Sorry to leave beautiful Santorini but perhaps we shall return one day. We left for Domaine Sigalas for our wine tasting and lunch at 11a. We drove all the way back to Oia along the very steep and winding roads. The lunch we had was delightful. First we had a Greek Salad, no surprise there. They make it a little differently on Santorini with what we call grape tomatoes instead of larger ones. They call them cherry tomatoes, they are sweet and delicious. This was followed by a delicate anchovy dressed with just lemon (and something, which I have forgotten at the moment). The anchovies tasted wonderful, not so salty like the ones we buy in a jar or can at home. Next we had a dish that was made from fava beans. I tried this another place and did not care for it but this dish was so creamy and delicious. Next was our entree, the forever favorite spinach pie with a small side lettuce salad. With each course we had a selected wine to taste, for a total of three wines. Our dessert was a taste of dessert wine. It was good but very sweet. We didn't buy any wine because it was a little pricey and we are traveling directly to Crete after this outing.

We had a short wait at the hotel to take the bus to the Ferry Terminal in Santorini. We waited over an hour there as the Ferry was delayed for some reason. We arrived in Crete about 7:40p.
Arrival in Crete
This was the biggest Ferry we have taken thus far, and our last.

It was pretty quick getting to our hotel. We had a fabulous dinner buffet but now it is late and we decided to skip the orientation walk tonight, I think most of the group skipped it. We will have another opportunity as we go on excursions to see things. Not everyone books the optional excursions. I'm sure there is more to write but my brain says "go to sleep" - so I am! Good-night!
