My day began at 2:35a when I happen to wake up ... It takes me awhile to acclimate. We left for our tour of Delphi at 715a. We had a great day and saw everything scheduled just before the rain broke through. We don't mind as we had ponchos that we didn't really need anyway. I am too exhausted to write this blog tonight so I will update later. We need to be up and ready to leave at 5:15a!
One photo though: Brazil is everywhere!!!
Postscript: Finally getting back to my Delphi post. There is a threat of rain today but it is not cold, the weather is quite nice. It is a 3-hour drive to Delphi from Athens. We saw a lot of orchards along the way both fruit and olive orchards. I saw a goat on its hind legs eating out of a tree but I was unable to get a photo. They grow wheat here as well. I am still marveling at the abundance of green everywhere. There are wildflowers every where you look. Alexandra tells us it will be brown in a month or less, so this really is a great time to visit. As we approached Delphi we stopped at an over look of the village of Arachova, what a great view. We drive on through the tiny, winding streets of the village to get to Delphi, where the story of Oedipus took place. They put on a play about this all summer in Delphi. Our bus drops us off because there is no parking and we briefly view the Delphi Archaeological Museum here. Our time was short here because our last stop ended up being 40 minutes instead of 20 minutes because of one woman, then she complained the time was too short in the museum! That is the problem with groups sometimes. It was an interesting little museum and then we walked up the hill to see the remains where the artifacts were found, including the temple of Apollo, with a local guide. We had great views of the valley from there as well. Coming down the hill it began to sprinkle and we made it to our lunch stop just before a downpour.

The appetizers and salad were delicious, but the pork dish for the main entree was a bit dry. We had more than enough to eat! It was a long 3-hour drive back into Athens with more traffic than this morning. The plan was to go up to the Acropolis tonight but John and I opted out and took a taxi back to the hotel. It is dark, we are tired, and we have extra days after the tour to see it. Alexandra gave us our tickets and we can go on our own.
