Mykonos - Day 5

This morning we left our hotel at 5:45a but it was good because we caught the ferry (or "speed boat") at 7a and made it to Mykonos by 10:30a. We had nice breakfast boxes from the hotel and we got a coffee on board the ferry. We dosed a little bit on the way and felt pretty good on arrival. All the structures are white washed, but they feel very smooth like a high quality paint. We are told the doors and windows are blue to keep out the "evil eye" - not too sure about that, I'll need to check that out. Since Greece is 95% Christian I wonder if they would be that superstitious or if it is just custom now? Those of you who like the musical Mama Mia know that it was filmed on this island. We saw the famous Wind Mills and other sites on our walk. Mykonos (mee-co-nose) is so beautiful! We had lunch on our own after an orientation walking tour about the old city. We stopped at Panagia Paraportiani Church to take a group photo and more. Alexandra was very into this event and we have a lot of photos. I saw some lovely scarves I want to get for my girls and for myself, John assures me he can find the place again, I hope so!

After we got to our hotel I must say I just wanted to take a nap but we went down to the pool and I went in for 30-40 minutes and felt revived, I'm told it was about 60F. John stuck a toe in and would not join me. I am trying very hard to get on a decent time schedule with sleeping. We had a nice visit with other guests and went back to our room about 5p so I could work on the blogs and take a shower before dinner at 7:30p. We have some interesting people on this tour.

Dinner was the least exciting and tasty so far, but the appetizers and salad were delicious. I hope to do the Delphi blog tomorrow. Off to bed now. Our hotel is nice but the Wi-Fi is lacking a bit.  Greece is amazing!
